Request Information

Anyone can request information from the Kapiti Council. While others rely on Facebook for their information, you can go directly to the source and request what you’re looking for or want further information on by submitting either a Council request – or an official information request.

Council request: This is a typical; please check if a property has an earthworks consent, or please can you fix the broken street lamp at X. You can also usually find this information on the website – but it may be difficult to find so you could ask for guidance to find this. You usually get a response within 5 working days. If your request is deemed to be an official information request the Council will let you know and you’ll get a response within 20 working days.

Information request: This is more sensitive information; please let me know about something, or provide emails between Mayor and X, or provide all data concerning a local business, organisation or something commercially sensitive such as total money spent on a specific project or infrastructure upgrade. You usually get a response within 20 working days.

Please use our forms to request your information.
